Injury Accident on I-24
At approximately 10:15 PM Sheriffs Deputies responded to a report of a injury accident on Interstate 24 at the 8 mile marker. Upon our arrival we found a 2001 Ford Explorer lying on it's side blocking both west bound lanes. The operator was 26 years old Nekisha A. Browning from Metropolis IL. She stated that she was traveling east bound on I-24 when a uninvolved car aggressively slowed in front of her. As a result Ms. Browning had to hit the brakes and swerve to avoid colliding with that car. Doing so caused her to lose control of her vehicle, cross the median, and overturn coming to rest on its side in the west bound lanes. The west bound lanes were closed for about 55 minutes while the wreckage was cleared. Ms. Browning was transported to Lourdes E.R. by Mercy Regional Ambulance service were she was treated and released for minor injuries. Ms. Browning was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. The Sheriffs Department was assisted on scene by Mercy Regional Ambulance service and Reidland Farley Fire Department.
