For a vehicle inspection at the Sheriff's Office, you need:

• The vehicle must be present and roadworthy
• No Breakage in windshield
• Odometer showing mileage
• All mirrors in place
• Title (Certificate of title) or a certified copy of the title - Not Registration
• VIN number on vehicle must match title
• Valid driver's license not an instructor's permit (See notes below referencing motorcycle inspections)
• The inspector may also check the vehicle for all safety features including, but not limited to: lights, wipers, horn, turn signals, glass for obstructions, brakes, and more.
• $15.00 fee - cash, check, debit/credit card

For vehicle inspections off-site, you should call 270-444-4719 to schedule an appointment. Deputies will perform inspections, but are also responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, so availability may vary and appointments may not be exact. For off site inspections, there is a trip fee of $20 in addition to the $15 inspections fee. You may pay by cash or check, but deputies do not have change, so please have the exact amount if using cash.
