Pursuant to KRS 61.870 to 61.884, the public is notified that, as provided herein, the public records of the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, are open for inspection by any resident of Kentucky on written application to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office. The address for the Sheriff's Office is 300 Clarence Gaines Street Paducah, KY 42003. Office hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, each week, except holidays.
Application forms for the inspection of the public records of this agency will be furnished on request to any person by an employee in our office or online here ►Open Records Request Form. Assistance in completing the application form will be provided by an employee, upon request. Applicants for the inspection of public records shall be advised of the availability of the records requested for inspection, and shall be notified in writing not later than five (5) business days (KRS 61.880 (1)) after receipt of an application for inspection of any reason the records requested are not available for public inspection.
An application for inspection of public records need not be submitted on a form provided by this office but may also be completed in written or typed letter or email format addressed to McCracken County Sheriff's Office. The request for public inspection of records can be hand delivered, mailed or emailed to the Sheriff's Office. The written or typed letter or email shall include the requesting parties printed or typed name, contact information, the specific records that are being requested to inspect as well as the requestor's preferred method of receiving the records they requested. Response to request may be mailed, hand delivered at the Sheriff's Office, faxed or emailed. In person inspection of the records is also available during normal business hours.
Per KRS, only a resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky may request to inspect public records. "Resident" is defined in KRS 61.876 (2).
Copies of written material in the public records of this agency shall be furnished to any person requesting them on payment of a fee of ten (10) cents per page. Copies of nonwritten records (photographs, material stored in computer files, video, etc.) shall be furnished on request, on payment of $10.00 for a CD/DVD or a charge equal to the actual cost of producing copies of such records by the most economic process not likely to damage or alter the record.
